This posthumous portrait of Sadie was a surprise commission. The step-son who gave this to his step-mom for her birthday had only one small photo of Sadie for me to work with. In the reference photo Sadie had her head resting on the cross-bar of a console table. I painted sumptuous silk pillows instead!
