Rocky
2008
Oil on canvas hardboard cradled pane
12x12
Isn't Rocky a handsome fellow? He is Red Tick Beagle, which is a cross between a Red Tick Hound and a Beagle...I think ;-) He got his good looks from both his parents and he looks like a very intelligent guy too. I love his beautiful golden eyes.

I did this portrait for his mom, Roisin, who works with Beagle Rescue of Southern Maryland. She will use it at their fundraiser to sell raffle tickets for a gift certificate I sent them. She sent me wonderful photographs to use as reference for the painting. One of the things that made her photos so good is that they were taken outside in natural light with a beautiful green lawn for the setting.

I hope Rocky's beautiful face helps Beagle Rescue raise lots of money!
